Footage from the Starmind Rehearsals

This is just a taste of how the Starmind rehearsals are going, and what it is we do behind closed doors. While this particular day was mostly giddy, we've seen some incredibly intense and frightening portents of things to come. Part of where this show came from was my own amazement at what Neill Blomkamp and Sharlto Copley accomplished with District 9, and while we've taken a different approach with content, I'm astonished and proud to say we're coming to a similar place with the excellence of our performances and our commitment to drama.

Here's a peek:

Final Draft of Sam Bailey!

Wow! Here we are!

Those who follow my internet ramblings may have noticed a gap in my correspondences of late. Those charitable enough to assume I'm just busy will no doubt have chalked it up to rehearsals and production duties for The Starmind Record.

You're half right. In addition, I decided to run a polish on Sam Bailey's screenplay and blocking charts (which are the diagrams that tell me where to put the actors, and where to put the cameras). My thinking at the time was that my revisions would only take a few short days.

Ha!

No, there were tons of opportunities to make this film better, cheaper, and more efficient. Reducing dialogue and reducing cameras actually, somehow, wound up adding a number of pages... but now we're sitting pretty at about 93, and this sucker is as clean and concise a screenplay as you'll ever read. Composed of simple, discreet action, Sam Bailey is the story of a man who has suffered more wrong than any one of us can imagine, finally learning how to forgive.

This is indeed the story of a man who has survived for almost six hundred years, and who must finally learn how to live.

As ever, I issue forth the disclaimer that attachments, location issues, and budget fluctuations may lead to future changes...

But now, I take great, great pride in presenting the FINAL DRAFT OF SAM BAILEY!

Thank you, one and all, for following us through this stage of the process. Over the next few weeks, I look forward to sharing the other things that have been going on with this movie behind the scenes!

Yours truly,
T
