Happy Thanksgiving

This is just a quick note to wish every one of our supporters a Happy Thanksgiving. For myself, the financial and emotional hardships of the last two years have been manageable because of the support of our cast, our crew, and our audience. Today, I'm taking the opportunity to say thank you.

When I began pre-production on "The Starmind Record," I was working in minimum-wage employment and grateful for it. In many ways, the story grew out of my need to feel some control over my situation. Obviously, this became a major theme in the show itself. Whereas the characters reacted to their situation with desperation, actually producing the show gave me the chance to see how many resources and friends I actually have.

Working with the Starmind cast and crew gave me the creative impulse behind Quantum Theory. Showing "The Starmind Record" to audiences is putting the tools in our hands to bring Quantum Theory to the screen. After years of labor, we are finally producing an independent feature film for movie theaters. The company we've worked so hard to build is growing strong.

All these things are happening because of the support of my wonderful actors, my production team, and yourself. Because of you, I've been able to take the most challenging time of my life, emotionally and financially, and turn the tables on it. This year, I've finally started realizing my dreams.

Both personally and on behalf of the 8 Sided Ensemble, I thank you.

The Daily PO.P. reviews "The Starmind Record"

Media Blogger Jameson Lee of The Daily P.O.P. has just posted the first review of "The Starmind Record":

"Two aspiring filmmakers stumble upon a random event while driving along the road late one night. They find a man wandering around in a daze. When one of them touches the stranger, she is overcome with images and thought that she cannot explain and starts drawing seemingly meaningless pictures and plastering them on the walls of their apartment. Deciding to take in the person in need proves to be both much more than either had anticipated as the stranger exhibits weird behavior and an ability to communicate in a most unusual way. Being filmmakers, the two Samaritans respond in the only way they know how and document everything."

"This is the Starmind Record."

Here's what Jameson Lee had to say about the craftsmanship behind Starmind:

"Actors Gerard Marzilli, Charlotte Gallagher and Matthew David McCallum are outstanding as the regulars in this multi-part serial and their performances maintain a believablility to the project. Gerard in particular is outstanding as the somewhat easy going and sensitive Eli, especially in the later parts when he becomes unhinged. Likewise Charlotte acts as a point of reference to sanity and compassion… until she clearly isn’t anymore. I was completely taken off guard at her later transformation as I had come to rely on her character as being wholesome and gentle."

"Tennyson Stead craftily composes a descent into madness that is made all the more compelling as it is so innocent at first. The bulk of the heavy lifting of course goes to Matthew David McCallum whose portrayal of the deranged and simple Dean Ballard is so very direct and honest that his transformation in the conclusion is all the more disturbing. I found myself muttering ‘I hate gin’ weeks after I had watched the program, a line that will carry some meaning for viewers."

New Trailer for The Starmind Record

Gerard and I have just finished cutting together a brand spanking new Starmind trailer, and we need your help to spread the word! The Record is currently in submission for a number of web awards, we are reaching out to film bloggers for reviews, we're cutting together new web content like the recent interviews and this very trailer, and all this work leads to Quantum Theory which we are deliriously excited about sharing with you. You, our audience, are our reason for being... and we can be so much more if you can help us bring even one more person into the fold.

Here's the trailer:
